Isobel

Wellington Tutor
Isobel is working towards a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics, with a minor in New Zealand Sign Language. Isobel enjoys the way that Economics allows for a better understanding of the world we live in, and loves the challenge of sign language. She is able to tutor Economics, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

In her free time, you can find Isobel playing with her kitten, knitting or doing yoga. Isobel is passionate about one-on-one tutoring because it allows for a deeper connection between the tutor and the student, and allows for more flexibility than normal classroom learning. Education accessibility is really important to Isobel, and so making subjects more approachable for any student is a priority for her.

Isobel’s tutoring style is very methodical, she likes to break down complex questions into manageable pieces, and create step-by-step guides for different types of questions. This puts the focus on crucial foundation skills, and can make harder questions seem easier. Isobel also believes that the more exam style questions a student is exposed to, the less intimidating the exams are, so she uses a lot of exam style questions and previous papers. Isobel believes that incorporating a students interests helps them to engage with other subjects, so she tries to use examples based on what the student enjoys.
